St Michael's C. of E. VA Junior School is a friendly school serving the community of Galleywood with children in years 3 to 6. We are proud of our recent Ofsted inspection which confirmed that we are a Good School.
We are looking for a Catering Manager to be responsible for cooking healthy, nutritious and appealing meals for our pupils and staff. The number of pupils on role is currently 239, and we have average daily meals of 100. The successful applicant would be part of a drive to increase the uptake of school meals further in our School.
The main focus of the role will be the planning, preparation and presentation of food and beverages to the school food standards. The successful applicant will be responsible for stock taking, ordering, menu planning, supervising our two kitchen assistants and keeping the kitchen area clean.
Experience in working in and managing a kitchen is desirable, this does not necessarily have to be in a school kitchen. Level 3 award in supervising food safety is essential for the role, but support in obtaining this qualification will be available from the school if it is not already held. The school buys in to Essex County Council Catering Support, which can provide help and support as required to the new candidate.
We are looking for a person who
• is organised and calm under pressure
• is friendly and personable with all members of the school community and has a good sense of humour
• is confident and able to work on their own initiative
• is comfortable with the necessary administration involved in running a catering service
• has catering experience
• has the interests of learners at the heart of the work that they do
Visits to the school are encouraged as part of the recruitment process, please contact Andrea Wolahan via the school office to arrange this. Please take care to complete the application in full as incomplete applications may not be considered. The closing date for this vacancy is 11/01/2019, but we will close it early if we have sufficient applications to shortlist.
