Deputy Headteacher

Local Government Leadership Band 17 - 21 (£59,265 - £65,384), The pay scale will be reviewed as the school grows.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new school, Paxman Academy in Colchester, which is currently under construction and will be open to students in September 2019. Before the school is completed this role will be based at Tendring Education Centre in Clacton on Sea.

The Deputy Headteacher will play a major role in building and maintaining our new school, helping students and staff members succeed, be included and reach their potential.

We're looking for you if you have:

- Qualified Teacher Status
- Ability to teach "outstanding" lessons
- Experience of Senior leadership; managing a team of teachers and support staff
- Initiated and implemented curriculum developments and other school innovations
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

Safeguarding Lead responsibility for Paxman Academy
Work with the Headteacher to create a vision of a school which can develop, empower and sustain individuals and teams of staff; then implement and help bring the vision to life.
Deputise for the Headteacher, as required, support Head Teacher in managing staff and resources.
Develop and oversee school behaviour management, systems and policies.
Manage disciplinary cases for students and staff where necessary.
Represent and promote Paxman Academy both internally through assemblies and meeting with families and visitors, and externally within the local community including other schools, the Sigma Trust and other agencies, as relevant.

Paxman Academy opened in September 2019 and admitted 180 Year 7 students in the first year.
