SENDCO - PAXMAN ACADEMY
Local Government Leadership Band 5-9 (£44,106 - £48,687) Pay scale will be reviewed as the school grows.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new school, Paxman Academy in Colchester, which is currently under construction and will be open to students in September 2019. Before the school is completed this role will be based at Tendring Education Centre in Clacton on Sea.
The SENDCO will provide development of the school's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision and oversight, of the day-to-day operation of that policy, with the aim of raising SEND Student achievement.
We're looking for you if you have:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- A SENCO qualification
- Ability to teach "outstanding" lessons
- Experience of support staff and students in maintaining high standards
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Some of the key responsibilities are:
- Put provision in place to ensure that progress of pupils with SEND improves relative to those without SEND.
- Appraise performance of and provide leadership and guidance to all Learning Support Assistants.
- Ensure funding results in the effective deployment of staff and resources.
- Support all staff in understanding the needs of SEND pupils.
- Support departmental developments of SEND provision.
- Monitor progress towards targets for pupils with SEND.
- Analyse and interpret relevant school, local and national data.

Paxman Academy opened in September 2019 and admitted 180 Year 7 students in the first year.
