Director of Faculty - Mathematics
Required: January 2019 or sooner if possible
Leadership Pay Range (salary to be negotiated at interview)
We are seeking an outstanding and dedicated individual to lead our highly successful mathematics department.
The King John School in Benfleet is a heavily oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive of over 2000 students, of which approx. 420 are in the sixth form. As a school our Progress 8 measure places us in the top 25% of the country. Over 76% of our students achieved a standard pass in English and mathematics at GCSE (Grade 4 or above) and we are recognised by the Department for Education for our proactive promotion of the English Baccalaureate within our curriculum.
Our A-level results have been exemplary, with over 60% of year 13 students gaining A* - B grades in all of their subjects. maths A-level is exceptional at The King John School and we have strong numbers in the sixth form with approximately 100 students currently studying A-level mathematics or further mathematics in the sixth form. The school enjoys an excellent reputation, having received a letter from the Director of Education in September commending the school on the 'fantastic' results this year. The school has also been graded at the end of September 2013 as 'Outstanding' across all key areas.
The successful candidate will have excellent teaching ability, strong leadership qualities and be able to communicate effectively with students and staff at all levels. You will need to be highly motivated and able to inspire every member of the team to play a part in the department's commitment to academic excellence. A director of faculty will be an integral leader in the school and embody a passion for all-through education. The successful candidate will ensure that the highest standards of learning, development and achievement are in place for students and this will be achieved through the clear and effective leadership of the department. Previous post-holders have been successful in gaining promoted posts up to Head of School.
