The King John School in Benfleet is a heavily oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive of over 2000 students, of which approx. 420 are in the sixth form. As a school our Progress 8 measure places us in the top 25% of the country. Over 76% of our students achieved a standard pass in English and mathematics at GCSE (Grade 4 or above) and we are recognised by the Department for Education for our proactive promotion of the English Baccalaureate within our curriculum. Our A-level results have been exemplary, with over 60% of year 13 students gaining A* - B grades in all of their subjects. The school enjoys an excellent reputation, having received a letter from the Director of Education in September commending the school on the 'fantastic' results this year. The school has also been graded at the end of September 2013 as 'Outstanding' across all key areas.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of drama either part-time or full-time to fulfill this maternity cover position. There is the potential for a TLR for acting head of department for the right candidate who has relevant experience and who has the ability to lead the drama department. If you feel you possess a creative and passionate approach to teaching within this popular subject area then we would love to hear from you.
