Lancaster School is a 14 - 19 SLD & PMLD special school which became part of a co-operative multi-academy trust (MAT) with three other special schools in Southend in September 2017. As such partnership working is key to the School's success.
If you:
- Have the abilities to lead an improving special school and continue its journey from a Good OFSTED rating in June 2017 onwards to Outstanding
- Have strong leadership and management skills
- Can strategically manage change by building on the firm foundations laid by the current leadership team
- Are committed to providing outstanding pastoral care whilst promoting excellent attitudes to learning

Information about the School
Lancaster School is an Academy special school for up to 100 students aged 14-19 with a range of complex needs: severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), neurological impairments, complex physical and medical difficulties, alongside students with moderate learning difficulties, who may need additional social and emotional support before transferring to local colleges at post-19.
Lancaster School is part of the SEN Trust Southend which opened as a formal partnership on 1 September 2017. The four special schools, The St. Christopher School, Kingsdown School, Lancaster School and St. Nicholas School have always worked closely together to create a strong group of special schools which aim to meet the majority of needs of those pupils who require specialist support in a specialist educational school with Southend. We created the Multi-Academy Trust to help us continue this work.
