At St John Payne School, pupils are proud to participate in a Catholic education. Our mission is to develop outstanding
students, whilst truly caring for everyone with whom we work. As Ofsted noted in 2016: "Pupils' personal development and
welfare is outstanding. Pupils are confident and assured, and conduct themselves well among peers and adults. The school's
Catholic ethos makes an excellent contribution to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural education."
The retirement of our current Headteacher means we require an inspiring, visionary professional to lead our school
community and take us from Good to Outstanding. Like us, you will believe in a curriculum and teaching style tailored to
individual needs and will be keen to build three-way partnerships between school, home and church. You will be dedicated
to making students feel happy, safe, valued as individuals and capable of co-operating with one another - and you will place
academic excellence at the heart of everything we do.
We're determined that at least 75% of our pupils should gain good passes in GCSE English and Mathematics and we want to
remain the best non-selective sixth form in Essex at A-level. You will realise our goals as you inspire staff and students alike
to give their very best and develop a lifelong love of learning. Qualified to at least first degree level, you will bring teaching
experience within a broad range of schools and will already have been a successful Headteacher or Deputy.
Passionate about Catholicism and safeguarding, you will give our students the foundations to succeed for life, providing them
with a first class education and with the skills to contribute to the wider community.
An application pack can be downloaded from the TES online advert or by contacting the school via email
mmo@sjp.essex.sch.uk. Applicants should also include a covering letter outlining suitability for this role.
Closing date: Noon on 21st March.
