The Governing Body is recruiting for an exceptional and inspirational Headteacher who will build on the successes of our school and lead us into its next stage of development.

Strive, respect, succeed

This is a rare opportunity to lead a large school that has consistently been rated Good by Ofsted and which is now playing a leading role in founding a large multi academy trust alongside local partner schools with which it has been working closely for many years.

Our school is based in Loughton, in the heart of Epping Forest, and is sited in a quiet, picturesque location opposite the forest edge. Our priority is to work together to create a happy and positive atmosphere in which all children are able to reach their full potential.

You will have:

  • Proven leadership and management skills, with a clear vision of excellence in education
  • A strong ability to communicate with staff, children, parents and governors
  • A track record of strategic thinking and planning
  • A fierce determination to drive higher educational standards at every level of the school
  • A commitment to the continuing development and motivation of all staff
  • A natural sympathy with the ethos of our school.

We can offer you:

  • Happy, motivated and well-behaved children who are excited about their learning and eager to contribute
  • A highly-talented, dedicated and hard-working group of staff
  • Interested and involved parents and carers committed to supporting their children's learning
  • A supportive and committed Governing Body that will proactively seek to work with you to realise a shared vision for the school
  • A local consortium of schools, many of which will soon join together to form the Epping Forest MAT, with a track record of collaborative support for one another.

We believe our school speaks for itself and would encourage you to visit in order to find out more about the way we work. Please contact Carol Barritt to make an appointment, email: clerk@staplesroad.essex.sch.uk

Information about the School

We are a successful and inclusive 3 form entry mainstream primary school in the heart of Loughton. We are lucky to be located opposite Epping Forest and we regularly use it to enrich our curriculum and enable children to respect it and connect with it. Staples Road Primary School continues to be a Good School (Ofsted November 2022).

In partnership with the Governors and parents, our staff work hard to provide a safe, happy and inclusive setting for every child to reach the high expectations we hold. We are proud of our curriculum offer: it challenges, excites and motivates all our children. It offers breadth and enrichment and, alongside our values of Kindness, Honesty, Resilience and Creativity, we aim to shape the whole child to ensure they achieve not only academically but also socially and emotionally too.

Our shared vision is that we challenge ourselves and support each other to be the best that we can be. We believe that primary education should be an exciting journey and that every child should leave our school with a love of learning that will remain with them throughout their lives. Our motto is Strive, Respect, Succeed: every child's hard work and effort with a positive attitude is rewarded by celebrating their successes and achievements.

We are part of The Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of fifteen Primary and one Special School all based in the Epping Forest District. Along with our SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training), School Improvement Team, Well-being Service and Resourced Provisions based in three of our schools, we are a leading educational organisation in Epping Forest.

EFSPT was formed in 2018 from a consortium of schools that had worked together for over 20 years, and are committed to collaborative working to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children and school communities. The schools maintain their identities but work in a highly collaborative manner supported by a small but very experienced Central Team.

Our Mission is to provide an exceptional education that is inclusive and challenging for all and which provides wider opportunities for the children within the EFSPT to flourish.

EFSPT is committed to Trauma Perceptive Practice; the Essex approach to understanding behaviour and supporting emotional well-being. Being trauma-perceptive means that through our values, policies and practice, we are able to effectively support the children, families and communities in our Trust, creating spaces of belonging and safety that enable everyone to flourish, become resilient and learn.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and we are committed to safeguarding our schools’ communities. The appointment will therefore be subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS checks.

West Essex SCITT is an outstanding provider of Initial Teacher Training. We currently have student finance or self funded postgraduate trainee teacher vacancies available to start in September 2024 across all of our 16 primary schools.
