'Pupils behave well. They are polite and supportive of one another. They want to learn and succeed.' - Ofsted 2017

Let's be honest, in June 2017 we lost our 'good' grading and was graded 'requires improvement' by Ofsted. We know where we stand and with our Exec Head in place, have high aspirations and a rigorous plan to turn the school around.

Come and join us and make a real difference to our children!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher who is committed to the development of our children and our school. You will be creative and energetic in your teaching and have the confidence to 'have a go' at anything new to improve the learning in your class. This is the perfect role for candidates who want to work for a primary school that supports teachers to have a work life balance and to teach in their own way.

We can offer you:

A school where we collaborate share and support each other to make sure all children achieve their very best.
A school with exciting and attractive learning environments.
Well supported teachers who are committed to driving high standards.
Significant opportunities to further your professional development.
Superbly behaved children who have a strong desire to work hard and learn.
Through tailored professional learning opportunities we will look to develop you throughout your teaching career. We work closely with other schools within the AET network with lots of opportunities to shadow and observe best practice.

Leadership at our school is forward thinking - and the well-being and work-life balance of our teachers is very important. We give autonomy to teachers and welcome fresh ideas. We want you to give us your best and our non-negotiables are outstanding attainment and progress for every child, coupled with kindness and warm-heartedness.

Ashingdon Primary Academy is part of Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), a multi-Academy sponsor which aims to provide the opportunity for all young learners to fulfil their real potential. Our school has approximately 200 children from the villages of Ashingdon and South Fambridge as well as from parts of Canewdon, Hockley, Rochford and Hullbridge. We are lucky enough to be set on a large, attractive site in open, green-belt countryside.

This position is required as soon as possible.

Information about the School

Welcome to Ashingdon Primary Academy and thank you for your interest in our school. Ashingdon village is a small rural community, easily reached from Rochford, Southend, Hockley and Rayleigh.

We have approximately 210 children on roll and provide places for pupils from Reception to Year 6. Pupils join us mainly from the villages of Ashingdon and South Fambridge as well as from parts of Canewdon, Hockley, Rochford and Hullbridge.

We are lucky to be set on a large, attractive site in open, green-belt countryside. The accommodation is made up of 7 well-equipped classrooms, each with their own interactive whiteboard. We also have a library, a large hall and a learning support area for working with small groups of children.

Outside, the academy has a spacious playground, and a large playing field, as well as a very popular Jungle Gym and Trim Trail. On our field we have a large pagoda, where older children are able to eat their packed lunches when the weather is fine. There is a separate Early Years garden, where the Reception children play for their first year at the academy. We also have our very own heated swimming pool.

Curriculum

We aim to develop each and every pupil to their full potential. To do this, we teach a broad and balanced curriculum and use a range of teaching and learning styles in order to make the children's day as interesting, stimulating and challenging as possible.

Our children are taught in mixed-ability classes for the majority of their subjects. At other times, throughout the whole Academy, the children may be taught some specialist subjects by a teacher other than their own (e.g. Music or French). The basic requirements for our curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2 are laid down by the National Curriculum and consists of:

Core Subjects English Maths Science ICT RE Foundation Subjects Geography History Design Technology. Art PE PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) Citizenship

This year we have included French in our KS2 curriculum.

More detailed information for each of these subjects is available on separate pamphlets. We also aim to keep parents updated on any new initiatives which we undertake and to actively involve you in your children's learning in as many ways as possible. For example, in the past we have run workshops to inform parents of how we teach reading in the Foundation Stage, Maths in the whole Academy, and how we assess your child's progress.

The Foundation Stage Curriculum differs slightly and an Early Years Curriculum is taught in the Reception Class. We strive to create a secure and stimulating environment where learning can take place through short periods of structured play and interactive teaching, There are six areas of learning:

Personal, Social, and Emotional development. Communication, Language, and Literacy Development Mathematical Development Knowledge and Understanding of the World. Physical Development Creative Development
