LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT REQUIRED

Salary: Local Government Payscale, Band 3, within the Range 8-16, depending upon experience £15,479 - £19,605 per annum pro rata, actual salary £11,137.60 - £14,106.38

Contract Type: 31.25 hours per week, term time plus 5 inset days

Contract Term: Permanent

The Gateway Learning Community [GLC] is a partnership between one secondary and four primary schools located within Tilbury and Chadwell in the borough of Thurrock to the east of London. Our mission is to offer everyone opportunities to develop as high achieving, resilient, healthy, aspirational, caring and fulfilled members of society.

We are looking to appoint a strong, enthusiastic, committed and creative part time classroom based Learning Support Assistant, 31.25 hours a week. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly taking direction from the class teachers and SENCo in adapting and planning activities to take students' learning forward. Our students' needs are at the core of The Gateway Primary Free School's ethos, successful candidates will be required to support the emotional and social development of the young people they work with.

Candidates must be able to carry out and write up necessary observations to inform and evaluate the child's needs. They must be experienced classroom practitioners proactive in dealing with students and identifying groups or individuals who may be falling behind in their learning.

Candidates must be able to use their own initiative and will have the following:

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is essential;
good standard of education; Maths and English GCSE grades A - C, or equivalent;
can provide excellent classroom support in literacy, numeracy and behavioural needs;
good organisation and inter-personal skills;
good knowledge of ICT;
be committed to high achievement from students and themselves.
