Job Description

Band 4 pt 34 to Band 6 pt 49depending on experience (fte £30,153 to £43,821) Pro rata £5,978 to £8,673

1 day per week, working across all 3 school sites, fully flexible.

41 weeks per year (including two weeks during school holidays)

Based across 3 Primary Schools in Basildon (Great Berry, Janet Duke and Noak Bridge), our new Multi Academy Trust, are looking to recruit a Chief Finance Officer, a critical position within any organisation, ensuring financial stability and using resources wisely to secure positive results.

Key elements of the role are:-

· The CFO must lead and promote good financial management throughout the Trust

· Implement financial policies to sustain our long term financial health ensuring viability of our growing Trust

· Develop and maintain good working relationships within the Trust

· Co-ordinate monthly financial reporting for each school and prepare a consolidated set of reports for the trustees. Meaningful financial analysis is key in providing the Trust with information for them to make strategic business decisions

· Co-ordinate the annual budgeting process and prepare a consolidated set of reports for the trustees

· Consolidate our long term budget and in year forecast, in accordance to EFA guidelines

· Develop and maintain effective processes ensuring the Trust adheres to financial governance and regulations

· Maintain an effective internal audit function for the Trust

· Effectively manage the use of our financial software ensuring that we utilise its full potential

· Liaise with external bodies such as the EFA, HMRC and our external auditors

· Attend trustee meetings and report to members

To meet the requirements of the role the CFO should be finance professional, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified or have proven equivalent experience. They should also have the necessary skills and personal qualities to be able to operate effectively within the Trust. This is an excellent opportunity to play an important and active part in the strategic direction of our newly established Multi Academy Trust. Experience and use of financial systems and Microsoft Excel are essential. The Trust will, in addition, be committed to continued professional development.
