Nursery Room Leader/SENCO - Mersea Island Nursery
Required from September 2017
18.5 hours per week. Term time only
Band 3.
The nursery require an enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills enabling them to communicate effectively with the children, parents and colleagues.
Strong organisational skills are essential as the successful candidate will be required to undertake planning, observations and assessments in line with the revised Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 and also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the special educational needs provision in the setting. A level 3 qualification or equivalent and Senco Code of Practice is required for this role
The nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check prior to the appointment.

Information about the School
Mersea Island School currently has 380 pupils aged 2-11, this includes a nursery with capacity for up to 48 children. It is the only school on the island, serving a closely knit community. The school is located on Mersea Island, off the coast of Essex and close to Colchester. The area surrounding the school in the town of West Mersea is semi-rural. The island is famous for its oyster cultivation and traditional fishing boats, and has a history of sailing. Pupils derive from a very mixed social background, and many of the pupils have parents and grandparents who attended the school.
