We are seeking a Family support Worker for our SEMH enhanced provision for 25 hours per week term time only. Initially the position is on a one year contract and is subject to receiving further funding. This new role in our team is to provide a mixture of individual and group interventions with parents, carers, children and families to improve outcomes for children and families
In this role you will be expected to work in partnership with parents to strengthen parental capacity and family relationships and to increase parental engagement in their local community and in their children's education .
In this role you will be expected to:
Engage with families to develope and maintain a supportive and empowering relationship founded on mutual respect, trust and the strengths of families
Work in partnership with parents to encourage independence and self-reliance and to help them to develop a consistent and positive approach to parenting by addressing behaviours and overcoming challenges.
Promote and facilitate parental understanding of a child's additional needs
Use persistent and proactive interventions when working with parents to enable positive changes in their lives
At times work directly with children to develop positive relationships and provide appropriate support to address a range of needs including disruptive and challenging behaviour.
Support parents to provide an appropriate environment in which children feel safe and which encourages the development of their self-esteem and resilience.
The following criteria are appropriate for this post.
Essential
· English and Maths GSCE at grade A-C or equivalent.
· NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant field e.g. Health, social care, early years, adult education, education, working with parents.
· Direct experience of working with families
· Direct experience of working in partnership with schools
Information about the School
We are rated a GOOD School. We are currently full with 206 children on roll. Pupils come from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds with a number of pupils from outside the catchment area.
