This maternity cover post is required from September 2017 for 2 to 3 terms, for a Lower Key Stage 2 class (Year 3 or 4), and applications from experienced practitioners as well as enthusiastic newly qualified teachers are encouraged.

You would have a chance to work in a strong and experienced 'triplet' team for planning and assessment and be part of a thematic based approach which permeates through the school to inspire the children's learning.

There are also opportunities to influence school development in terms of subject leadership as we are reviewing the role of co-ordinator, therefore an interest in ICT would be a distinct advantage.

The most recent Ofsted report (October 2013) highlights some important strengths and qualities in our school, including the following:

  • The school promotes spiritual, moral, social and cultural development extremely well because it is the foundation of every aspect of school life.
  • Pupils behave well and have good attitudes to learning.
  • Staff, governors and parents work closely together with pupils' interests at the heart of everything they do.
  • Care for pupils permeates every aspect of school life so pupils feel happy and safe. One stated, 'This school will be my best childhood memory, ever'.

Moving forward, the school and its Governing Body are dedicated to continuing to build positive partnerships between school, home and the wider community, continuing the development of outstanding teachers, raising the achievements of our pupils.

St Luke's is a wonderful place to work; it's a supportive and happy school. All staff and volunteers are committed to the safeguarding of the children and supportive of our caring Church of England ethos.

We encourage you to visit our school to discover first-hand the surroundings and enthusiastic learning environment that we can offer you.

St Luke's Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this committment. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring check.

Information about the School

St Luke's is at the heart of the village of Tiptree and is easily accessible from the A12 - a short commute from both Colchester and Chelmsford.

St Luke's Church Primary School was founded in 1863 to provide education according to the principles and practices of the Church of England.

Following the reorganisation of many Church of England schools in the 1950's, St Luke's became a controlled school. This means that some of the governing body is drawn from the foundation, representing the Church of England, and the rest is made up of County nominated and other lay people.

The school occupies the site immediately adjacent to St Luke's Church, and this reinforces the feeling of community that we share.

Further information about our school can be found on our website: www.stlukeschool.co.uk

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
