Location for Post: Notley Green Primary School, Braintree, Essex CM77 7ZJ but with a supervisory role across other schools within the Trust in the Braintree and Clacton-on-Sea area.
Contract Type: Permanent, probationary period of 6 months
Working Hours: 37 hours a week term time (including non-pupil days) plus 1 week in school holidays
Salary Range: (Band 4) £ 20,171 to £24,123 gross per annum depending on experience (pro-rata for weeks per year)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint this new role within CHANGE Schools Partnership. We are seeking to recruit a Catering Chef, who will revolutionise school meals and catering provision across our schools. The Catering Chef will be passionate about providing good quality, nutritious meals for our children, using fresh ingredients and a high standard of food preparation and an eye for presentation. It will be their responsibility to ensure that all the catering staff share this ethos.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the catering provision at one school and overall management of the catering teams for the other schools within the Trust (currently 3 primary schools).
The ideal candidate will have suitable qualifications and previous experience in a similar role or have transferable skills, with the ability to use their own initiative and have a passion for fresh authentic food.
The Catering Chef/Manager for CHANGE Schools Partnership, is a role which will grow and develop offering an exciting opportunity to support teaching and learning by developing a service which meets the nutritional and learning needs of our pupils. The Catering Chef/Manager will promote the healthy enjoyment of food, its rich diversity and the important part that it plays in our lives, not just for school meals but extending this to other areas of school life such as Breakfast Club, cooking demonstrations for our pupils and parent evening 'taster' events.
Job Purpose
To manage and run an efficient catering service across the Trust in line with the 'Healthy Schools' agenda and Department of Education nutritional standards.
To provide a varied selection of quality, healthy meals and snacks to all pupils, employees and visitors of Notley Green Primary School, on a daily basis.
To contribute to the development of the service by engaging with the school population and the wider community.
To promote the catering service within the school and the local community, working with the Chief Operating Officer and Local Business Manager in order to secure profitability of the service.
