Broomgrove Junior School is a two-form entry school with eight classes catering for children aged 7-11 yrs. The school was opened in 1971 and shares its site with Broomgrove Infants’ School.
The school is proud to call itself ‘inclusive’ and aims to make provision for the needs of every individual child. Continuing provision for children with SEND is facilitated by the fact that we work closely with the infants school.
The school is ever mindful of the need to maintain and improve standards in the core subjects but it is also committed to the delivery of a creative curriculum. It is also committed to extra-curricular activities during lunch-times and after-school which are offered to all children by staff and external providers, ranging from sport to music, art and gardening.
The school participates in many local community events such as the children displaying their work in the library and at the station and the choir singing at the parish church on special occasions. The school is also hired out in the evenings to several local groups.
Along with other local Primary and Junior schools, Broomgrove Junior School has strong links with the Colne Community School and College in Brightlingsea, the local secondary school. This includes participation in music and sporting events, and specific festivals organised by the Colne for their linked schools. Within this cluster of schools, training is shared by both staff and governors. The Mid Tendring Education Partnership provides many traded services which support the school in a variety of ways.
