St Teresa's Primary School is looking for a Learning Mentor / Pupil Support Worker.
This is a new role to the school and an exciting opportunity to raise the profile of vulnerable children’s support within the school.
The post is part time, working 26 hours per week, commencing 02.09.13. Salary scale range: Band 4 to mid-point (fte)
You will be responsible for:
• supporting children who have social and emotional difficulties
• advising and helping parents, alongside planning and leading parent workshops
• working with targeted children within classrooms to help remove barriers to learning
• working with individual and small groups of children to increase their self-esteem and confidence, helping to raise their achievement
The successful candidate will have an empathy with children from difficult backgrounds and
• be patient and understanding and be able to help children to overcome social and emotional barriers to increase academic attainment
• be able to liaise with parents, staff and external agencies
• be able to manage their own time successfully
The role will include working:
• to support the school in child protection matters; being able to attend meetings and liaise with staff, parents and Children’s Social Care
• to monitor attendance; carrying out daily telephone calls to parents/carers for targeted vulnerable children
• to support the SENCO.
Essential qualifications:
• Safeguarding (level 3)
• A Certificate in Counselling Studies (level 3)
• Department for Education Specialist Leaders of Behaviour & Attendance
• Lead Professional
