We are looking for a full time KS3/KS4 instructor/unqualified teacher to join our Reintegration Team, which supports students unable to access education due to medical and/or SEMH needs. You will be mobile around the South of Essex, where teaching takes place in the school, in the home, in libraries, the hospital and/or other venues, and with the aim of reintegrating students back into school.

We value the wellbeing of our staff and offer a supportive, well-resourced learning environment with a range of professional development opportunities. We are also part of the exciting pilot launch of Trauma Perceived Practice, in Essex schools.

You should be someone who has:

An understanding of the National Curriculum across all key stages.
Good general education, with GCSE C or above in Maths and English; degree level education is desirable.
Experience of working with students with complex needs, in particular those with poor mental health and/or challenging behaviour.
Flexibility and creativity - every pupil and every day is different, therefore, the ability to adapt to support students and parents is crucial.
Effective time management skills.
Experience of working in a mainstream school, and an understanding of Alternative Provisions.
Resilience - working with complex students, some of who may present poor mental health, or difficult or challenging behaviours.
Good communication / interpersonal skills / mediation skills/ ability to build relationships appropriately
The ability to drive with access to a car which has business use insurance. This is essential.
The appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and full employment checks, good references and medical clearance.

Information about the School

The Children’s Support Service is a short stay provision (PRU) in Essex. We have two main centres covering KS2-4 (in Wickford and Basildon) as well as an Outreach Service which works to support students, staff and schools in the local area, with bases in Basildon and Harlow.

Most of our students are referred to us due to difficulties they have faced in school; many come with additional needs and require academic, emotional and social support.

We offer a wide range of subjects, including the core curriculum, as well as enhanced activities to provide an enriched learning experience. We collaborate with schools and professionals who need our support, and aim to reintegrate students back into mainstream education or prepare them for other lifelong learning opportunities.

Our staff create positive, safe, caring and supportive learning environments, helping to inspire every child to achieve their full potential.

CSS staff benefit from our subscription to the "Education Support Partnership", which provides mental health and well-being support services for all staff, including 24/7 access to advice, support and counselling for our whole team.
