School Admission Appeals Panel Member


Catalyst Academies Trust are recruiting volunteers to join its School Admission Appeals Panel, working
across our Trust schools; Dilkes Academy, Benyon Primary, Quarry Hill Academy, Somers Heath
Primary and Aveley Primary. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly motivated team.
Panel member roles include:


 Listening to verbal representations at the hearings held at one of our 2 onsite training suites
 Weighing up the two cases from the parent / carer and the School
 Reaching a decision on each case with fellow members and giving reasons for those decisions
By becoming a panel member you will be helping the Trust and local parents to arrive at a fair decision
in the allocation of school places. Full training for this role will be provided and you will have access
to going advice.


Volunteers will serve on a Panel of 3 Members. The Independent Clerk will be present throughout to
give advice and guidance and to answer any questions. The Central Team are also available during
office hours to answer any queries.


Admission Appeals Panels can take place anytime during the year but generally occur June/July and
September.

Our pupils are aged 3 – 11, ranging from Nursery to Year 6, and mainly live in the area surrounding the school.
