Resettlement Grant

Teachers appointed to secondary schools and special schools with secondary pupils in Essex may be eligible for the payment of a resettlement grant of up to £2,000.

Relocation Scheme

Newly-appointed headteachers are eligible to claim up to £8,000 if they meet the criteria, regardless of whether their school subscribes to the Relocation Scheme.

Home Buy with Moat

Moat is the appointed HomeBuy Agent for the new HomeBuy programme, a government led initiative to enable teachers and other key workers to either purchase or rent a property.

Moat operates a one-stop-shop service for anyone looking to access HomeBuy across Essex. You fill in just one application form, return it to Moat and they will work in partnership with other housing associations to provide you with details of all available homes in your area.

The HomeBuy programme offers several options:

New Build HomeBuy – new homes available on a part buy/part rent basis where you purchase a share in a property, typically 50% (this can vary between 25% and 75%) and pay a discounted rent on the remaining share.

Discounted Rent – new homes available at a discounted rent, normally 80% of ordinary market rents for homes of similar size and specification in the surrounding areas. Only key workers can apply for this scheme. If you are not a key worker, but would be interested in social housing for rent, please contact your local authority to join their housing register.

A range of discounts is available to all teachers who are employed in schools maintained by Essex County Council.

Areas covered include Health Care, Fitness, Travel, Car Sales and Service, Airport Parking, Restaurants and Shop Discounts & Offers.
